In the world of filmmaking, where the magic happens behind the camera, few individuals can boast the versatility and passion that Hana Mitchell brings to every project. For nearly two decades, Hana has been the quiet force shaping narratives, sharpening visuals, and ensuring that every frame tells a story worth remembering
Hana's journey into the world of production began serendipitously. As a teenager, a family friend working as a Set Designer invited her to join a film project as a Production Assistant. That first glimpse into the filmmaking process was all it took to ignite a lifelong passion. Even after a brief stint as a Stock Market floor runner, the allure of storytelling pulled Hana back to the creative world. It was during her time at Columbia College Chicago that Hana co-founded Impakt Studio with her business partner Christopher Adams. Her role as the studio’s exclusive editor was where her talents truly began to shine.
Hana’s early career saw her editing music videos for some of the most notable names in the industry. She worked with artists such as Lupe Fiasco on his iconic "Kick, Push" video, Syleena Johnson, and Omen of J. Cole's Dreamville label. Her skill and dedication quickly positioned her as an in-demand editor, leading to Grammy-nominated projects for Eric Roberson, Lalah Hathaway, and Terisa Griffin. Not one to shy away from challenges, Hana even stepped into the role of co-director for Shawnna’s music video "Round Here" in 2019, further showcasing her ability to lead creatively from behind the lens.
While music videos were an exciting beginning, Hana’s heart was set on narrative storytelling. Transitioning her focus to editing features, short films, and documentaries, she became a pivotal figure in creating stories that resonate deeply with audiences.
Her work has graced major platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, BET, BET+, and Aspire, with screenings at prestigious film festivals around the world. With nearly two dozen projects under her belt, Hana’s expertise in narrative structure and her eye for detail continue to set her apart in a competitive industry.
What makes Hana Mitchell a standout in the world of editing isn’t just her technical skill but her passion for storytelling. Whether it’s a three-minute music video or a full-length feature film, her commitment to making sense of chaos and creating compelling narratives is what drives her work.
Hana Mitchell’s journey from a curious teenager on a film set to an industry-leading editor and storyteller is a testament to the power of passion, perseverance, and creativity.
